And here, of course (though this is the first time I’ve ever done this) is my Haul.
Dongery: “Just Saying”-Bought their “last copy” or was it? This book will make me laugh for the rest of my life. worth the hefty tag.
CF: “Blind Ambition” bottle design. Managed to get this guy for free. This is what started the tying on of a TIGHT afterparty drunk.
Picturebox tote…second consecutive year of earning one of these.
Second row from Back:
Éric Lambé: “The King’s Son”-so psyched about this international purchase. cross hatch cartoon ballpoint yikes.
Jonathon Chandler: “Primitive Man”
Joe Kessler: “Windowpane” So lucky to get a copy of this before they were gone.
Ben Marra: “Lincoln Washington,” “Ripper and Friends,” these look DISTURBING!
British Weapons Comics: “DNA Failure”
Zach Hazard Vaupen: “Pixel Dog’s Soft Bark” Tumblook hit! can’t wait to laff all over again.
Katbus: “Barking to the northstar”
Eric Timothy Carlson: “Black Massive Solids & The Human Idea” sick trade I made. lemonade.
Saman Bemel-Benrud: “Untitled” is this untitled? This guy had read Two Broken Branches and was super nice AND THEN he pulled out this beautiful zine. I was like “wow.”
Sam, “blondest ‘tache of the north”, the Gas Can Man’s: Gnome on Chuck “Killing it all the goddamn time in all he’s been doing while being the cooooolest dude too” Forsman’s Oily imprint.
Nate Doyle: “Crooked Teeth 5 1/2” also oily. really oily.
THIRD ROW FROM THE BACK:
Remy Perlot, Paz Boïra: “Nos Terres Sombres” another totally inspiring international book I snagged. Makes me wanna make monotypes! let’s do it.
Frank Santoro: “Pompeii” I tried to get one of these off Frankie at Freibert’s midnite comic convention and he winced and was like “Aww man this is like the only copy I’ve got and we’re just starting this tour and I wanted to show it to people” and I was like “It’s cool dude, I totally understand I’ll get it in the future.” Check it out Frank, I kept my promise Frank. I kept my promise.
Jonathon Chandler: “2BY2” I bought a lot of this dude’s stuff. I regret none of it.
Daniel Newman, Mike Taylor: “Jung/Frankenstein” I really like naming my books with two words separated by a slash too dudes. two dudes.
Micheal Deforge: “Cody” Mr. Freibert calls this Mr. Deforge’s best yet.
Brian “they threw me in a pit of glass man” Blomerth: “All Tell Phase: 1 Hyper Maze (Preview Edition)” This dude made me fucking die laughing all day long. his books will do the same. Get on this train early kids this is about to be the “new cool comics thing” for real. don’t wait. this guy rules. rules.
Carlos Gonzales: “Micro Pitch” Carlos gonzales will never not blow my mind. Every new choice is a curveball, this baseball comic is no exception duh.
Dongery: “Guns ‘N’ Roses, Guns ‘N’ Roses Just Kidding” this is their newest. ugh. it never stops. the mere thought of Dongery brightens the darkest of my days.
Raul Cuntchrist, Seva Torntaint: “Alluring Pictorials For Lovers”
Bradford Haubrich: “NFS”
Lane Milburn: “Mors Ultima Appendix A: The Negation” phantasy scribblings from a man in a dark cave place of life. But he’s beginning to see the light. I can tell by the mutant crust punk leaping backwards off a cliff with his middle fingers in the air on the last page. fuck yes.
Mickey Zachilli: “What does the Garbage Man say?”
Leslie Weibeler: “Dionysian Spirit” looking at leslie’s work always loosens entropy’s grip from my ideas about comics. inspired, inspiring.
Andy Burkholder: “Qviet,” “Good Enough/Gough Enood,” “Foreground,” I also bought Andy’s VHS, “You Can Do it” (not pictured). Andy is….he’s…..oh….
Edie Fake: “Sweet Meats 1 & 2” favorite trade of the day: Saw Edie from a bit away and I gave him a grunt of recognition, of greeting. He grunted back and reached into his bag for these two books. I said “Roouguhghhh,” and handed him my two books. Then we both walked away.
Joanne Oldham: “Good Morning #1” so excited to own this book. so excited it’s here on earth, already a couple pages of the memoir portions, sooo beautifully written and remembered. Had my head spinning as I was falling asleep last night. oh man. I know I’ll love this book forever.
Leon Sadler: “Arctic Seal” also read this last night and felt my brain loosen from its stem. Leon Sadler, like Joanne Oldham and, I believe, Gary Panter has unique and powerful ACCESS to dreamlike “ecstatic” and prophetic wavelengths. Reading his stuff has the effect of Dickian anamnesis.
Ron Rege Jr.: Show Paper Cover
Steve Ditko: “The Hero” actually bought this the day after at Desert Island.
NOT PICTURED: Patrick Kyle: “Batman Comics” Took this picture then realized I had left my copy in the bathroom after reading it over the course of my morning “constitutional.” Great book, snappy laffs, constant dicks poking through mouseholes in the ground to indicate “the Joker.” You don’t need to tell me, you don’t need to be told that Kyle is ON his game.
I can’t fucking believe I did all this typing.
